Ajabu Africa to Honor Gains by Africans in USA

WOBURN. Mass, JULY 22_Preparations for the first ever Ajabu Africa News award ceremony to honor prominent Africans in the New England region for their contribution to the advancement of the African community here are already in full gear.

 

Ajabu Africa News, is part of an African media Group in the USA through which it's Chief Executive Officer Mr. Harrison Maina conceived the idea to honor all those who have played key roles to promote the plight of the members of the African community.

Ajabu Media will host this 1st Annual Ajabu African Awards Gala Night on Sunday August 1st 2010.

The Gala night which is causing a buzz around various African communities, is billed as the first of it's kind to be held in the New England region with guests expected to arrive from all over the United States.

The event , which begins at 6pm at the Hilton Boston Hotel on 2 Forbes Rd in Woburn’ Mass., (website) has attracted several popular gospel artists, cultural bands and community leaders all of whom wish to be a part of this historic and auspicious occasion.

A variety of entertainment is in store for the night including various traditional African performances, Saint Stephens’ band from Lowell, the Touch & Soul live band and Big Mo, both from the Ugandan community, Kenyan gospel artists, Joseph Muruaru, Rahab Kinitty, and many other outstanding performers. 

"This night will be in honor of the many African men and women who work hard each day to bring change, touch a life, make a difference…the men and women who hold our communities together, the men and women who consistently ignite the African spirit", said Harrison Maina, the founder of AjabuAfrica.com.

One prominent Guest Speaker expected to address guests on the Gala Night is Philanthropist Emily Soroko. Soroko is an internationally renowned motivational speaker who delivers messages of healing, restoration, transformation and hope.

Author and co-founder of Jamii International Outreach Ministries which assists orphans, vulnerable children, widows and widowers, Soroko helps millions in identifying their God given purpose.

She strives to motivate audiences to overcome adversity and discover strengths that lie within, a message which is clearly illustrated in her book, Rising above Adversity.

Soroko works at the Department of State in Washington DC as a Coordinator for women in business and lives in Fairfax, VA with her family.

Ajabu African Awards Gala Night (website) is scheduled to begin promptly at 6pm, therefore guests are encouraged to arrive between 5pm and 6pm.

It will be a black tie event which will not only give recognition to well deserving recipients but also feature Africa’s grace and glamour through a Fashion show aimed at spotlighting Mama Africa in all her beauty.

African college students who graduated in the class of 2010 will aslo be recognized and awarded .They too are encouraged to register themselves and bring their gowns to the awards ceremony.

In an interview founder and President of Ajabu media, Harrison Maina said, “This will be a very good opportunity for a family day out, as well as to showcase our culture to future generations.” For several years Maina, has been working with journalists from several African countries to bring issues of the community to the forefront in a balanced non stereotypical manner.

He says, “We challenge the generally perceived notion that Africa is a 'war zone', 'a lost continent', 'a dark continent'…We at Ajabu Media deliberately harness the human and economic resources that help illustrate a much better future for Africans".

"Africa has the necessary resources and will power to propel herself into greater heights of prosperity…fair perception and unity is the first step towards reaching these heights", he added.

Tickets are $50 for an individual and $80 for couples who will enjoy the special evening at a discounted rate. Senior citizens 66 and above will pay $40 and $20 for children aged 7 - 13 years. Children 6 years and below will have free admission.

Ajabu Sales representatives also have tickets on hand and will be in various African events and church services ready to make the ticket purchasing process as simple as possible.

Indeed this will be a night entirely in celebration of Africa!  Guests will indulge in Gomet' African cuisines catered by one of Africa’s Top Chefs, in the presence of Great minds and unshaken solidarity.

On Sunday August 1st 2010 Africans in the Diaspora will unite in recognition of African Greatness. On one stage, Africa will be united, on one stage, Africa will be celebrated!
