LOWELL, Mass. , DECEMBER 19_After leading in a major Gospel Musical Extravaganza recently at the Community Council Fellowship Church (CCF) in Lowell MA, two Kenyan artists, Philip Kimani and Moses Ndichu are on their way to the mid west where they will continue with their US tour.

During the several weeks they have been in Massachusetts, Kimani and Ndichu have entertained fans in many other venues in Lowell, Worcester and Abington, culminating in last weekend’s performance during the Jamhuri day celebrations held at the Divine Gospel ministries in Worcester.

During the CCF event, many Kenyans praised the two artists for giving them a good time of praising, worshiping, and adoration through music and dance.

The event was hosted by Rev. Joseph Waiyaki of CCF church, who also leads the faith service ministries. Faith Service ministries has been instrumental in spreading the word of God within the Kenyan community in New England through music and hosting renowned evangelists from Kenya.

Leading a short sermon before the musicians hit the stage; Rev. Waiyaki told worshippers that God does not rejoice when they are not happy. He plodded Kenyans to dance with joy for the Lord, because "God speaks to us through music all the time."

“You do not feel your age if you stand up and dance and praise the Lord through music so let us stand, sing, dance and praise the Lord,” said Rev. Waiyaki.

Speaking to Kenyans during the event, Pastor Stanley Kariuki also said that singing is part of preaching and that no one should be ashamed of praising and singing loudly.

Many Kenyans were surprised when Philip Kimani belted his popular Kikuyu hit song, Abba that many in the audience already knew very well, with some  saying that they were shocked to see the man  who sang the hit, saying he was just a simple man.

“I can’t believe this is the man who sang this song that I used to hear on the radio in Kenya,” said an elderly woman who came to be entertained. “I am very happy and blessed to see him with my own eyes,” added the Kenyan mother of five.

Moses Ndichu

Though not yet well known by the Kenyans in the Diaspora, Moses Ndichu treated fans with sweet worship melodies.

The two men gave Kenyans Gospel lovers a break from the female dominated Gospel music scene, although widely popular Lucy Muthumbi and Sarah Mbogo and new artists, Watimoo also performed.

The event was attended by many pastors from other Kenyan churches in Lowell including Rev. Jeremiah Githere, Bishop David Karaya, Rev. Samuel Kimohu and Pastor Stanley Kariuki.
