Braintree, Mass.- Atlanta-based Kenyan pastor has urged Christians to do God’s work without any further delay.
“Now we know it’s much more than just preaching. God has called us to serve 24/7 in whatever area you are blessed in,” Pastor Weru of Christ Harvesters Church in Atlanta, Georgia, told the congregation.
“Wherever you are, God has called you and wants to know you more intimately.”

The cleric made the call at the 1st anniversary celebration for The New International House of God Church in Braintree, Mass., where he was the chief guest.
Weru, an assistant pastor to one of the largest Kenyan community Churches in Atlanta, said the time when the flock attributed ministering to be a work of preachers alone was over.He praised Kenyans in the United States for humility and diligence as they performed odd jobs without whining.
“Many of us don’t want to call home and say what we are doing here. Like Zerubabel, we are called a fruit from some place. We stretch our limits and work hard because we have a humble spirit,” explained Weru, who was invited to the podium by his host, Rev. Joram Karanja, pastor of the International House of God Church.
“In so doing, God will continue blessing us and some day, people will appreciate that once there were people who came here from some place and made a big difference.”He also thanked the pioneer of the International House of God, the Rev. Joram Karanja, and the assistant pastor, Kori, for advocating for the ‘now action’.

“It is because of their now attitude that we now have The International House of God whose first anniversary we are marking today,” Weru noted.
The shepherd caused a light moment when he said that as children, we were always being told that we are the leaders of tomorrow, but even before we get to lead anybody, we hear our children being referred to as the ‘leaders of tomorrow’.
“The body of Christ is stricken with this syndrome. God wants us to minister today, not tomorrow,” Weru observed.
“Prophet Zachariah ministered for only six months before he died yet we have people who spend years doing nothing for the Kingdom of God,” lamented the Atlanta pastor.
The colorful event included presentations from the International House of God praise and worship team, as well as performances by various visiting groups.
The groups included a choir from The New International Tabernacle House of God from nearby Abington, the energetic and youthful St. Paul’s Youth Choir from Lawrence and several individual presentations.
The event was attended by white Americans and several African-Americans, prompting the day’s emcee, Pastor Kori to interpret the preacher’s words from English to his native Kikuyu language.
This inevitably caused numerous moments of humor as the interpreter did his best to keep up and the listeners occasionally chipped in to help in where Pastor Kori got tongue-tied.
Guests were served sumptuous great Kenyan traditional dishes for lunch as they socialized.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by a church elder, Mr. William Kimani.
