WAKEFILED, Mass. MARCH 25_Africans in the Diaspora have been advised that most problems in life are dictated by perception and attitude, and that words have the power to either build or destroy life.
People continue to experience troubles in their lives because “many of us fail to read and practice the word of God and that’s why it does not work in our lives.”
Rev. James Collins from the Eagle Heights Church in Revere, Mass made the comments during the conclusion of two weekends of teaching of the good news at the Rapture Harvest Mission International Ministries in Wakefield, Mass. last Sunday.
The Reverend who is the senior pastor at the over 1,400 member multi- racial international church in Revere, said that he was pleased to be in an African community church in Massachusetts although his church has a huge membership of Africans from different countries from Africa and other continents.
He was hosted at the Rapture Harvest church by Bishop Joshua and Dorcas Wambua through an invitation by Maurice and Sonji Neverson, two popular Gospel artists, well networked in the African faith community, and members of the Eagle Heights church.

During the two week service, Rev. Collins told worshippers to realize that each person’s destiny is not going to be determined by other people but rather by each individual’s attitude especially when problems strike.
“There are people waiting for you to fail in what you are doing. You should, however not worry about those people. You should know that when the devil has a plan to take you out, God has another plan to keep you in,” said the visionary pastor.
The popular cleric advised worshippers to slowly break away and disengage from those people they realize are pulling them down. “Apply unwavering faith in the promises of the word of God, and your dreams and aspirations will come true, leading to a happier life".
He encouraged people not to worry of what they have lost in the process of life because "for every setback, God has a pre arranged comeback,” said Rev. Collins.
The pastor caused a light moment when he cautioned that sometimes it’s hard to disengage from discouraging people because you might already be married to them, in which case the only medicine is to show them more love and continue praying for them in faith.
He added that life and death lies in the power of the tongue because “words reflect our fate”. Reading form the book of Romans 1 19:20, Rev. Collins said that the devil has abused the area of teaching and confession and belief in the things of God, so as to keep people away from achieving what God intended them to have in life, leading to miserable living conditions.

“Your enemy is not your mother in Law,” said the pastor in a euphemism, describing the sources of pain in many family relationships today. He said that there is nothing in the world that can’t be turned by our tongue,” he added.
Rev. Collins said that people make up things about race without realizing that as descendants of Adam, all people are related.
He caused laughter when he said that even the big hullabaloo that was recently created when a police officer in Cambridge, Mass. arrested a Harvard professor for forcing his way into his apartment after losing his keys, ended in a bizarre twist when the professor, a family tree researcher, found out that he and the police officer were related.
“After the beer summit at the White House, Dr. Gates found out that he was related to officer Crawley,” said Rev. Collins.

The pastor told worshippers that for the word of God to work fully in their lives, they have to be fully persuaded. Reading from Numbers 23:19, Rev. Collins said that God keeps his word as opposed to men, who will back off from their word when the going gets rough.
He said that to be fully persuaded of the word, you can’t stagger or waver in your faith but believe against hope like Abraham did and got a child at 99 years.
He also asked people to avoid the camp of the unbelief, adding that “the company you keep determines the level of faith you have, and miserable people go to miserable people for counsel.”
He added that good communication is essential for a happy life because bad communication produces bad fruit.
Thanking Pastor Collins for making time to interact with an African community church, Bishop Wabua expressed hope that there will be more future networking opportunities between the two churches and other American churches in the area. “This is just the start. We shall network more and more,” said Bishop Wambua.
Rev. Collins wished Africans in the US a good time and asked them to hang around happy people who can make them laugh because “a friend’s happy face has a more positive effect on you than a $5,000 raise”.
