During his recent trips to Boston that were widely reported by AjabuAfrica.com, the Bishop surprised many by his ability to speak fluent Kikuyu to hundreds of Kikuyu who frequent many of the churches in Massachusetts.
His masterful skill in switching between his own Luo to English to Kikuyu among many other languages, and feeling completely at home with it, has impressed many, often attracting many non- church goers to church, at least in part to meet the renowned man of God.
Bishop Obonyo has also played a significant role significant in bridging the tribal gap between the Kikuyu and Luo communities in Massachusetts when he led an inter-tribal praise and worship service at the Rapture Harvest Mission International church in Wakefield last year in preparation for the Luo day celebrations.
