BOSTON,Mass, SATURDAY, FEB 28- Kenyan youth have been asked not to allow people close to them or in their community despise them for being fixated on fun and engaging in uncanny behavior.

The timely advice was given by Mr. Peter Gaitho, an upcoming young preacher and teacher. He was preaching during a Youth Sunday service at All saints Church in Quincy, MA over the weekend.

Mr. Gaitho told the mainly youthful congregation that the youth are living in very difficult times more than ever before. Consequently, most of them find themselves despised by their parents, and the community for problems occasioned with  their bad behavior such as too much drinking, premarital sex, aggressive behavior like that displayed by manamba’s  back in Kenya.

“Our youths are living in very hard times and due to the problems shown by the youth, they are despised by the community,” said the young preacher.

Providing a Biblical analogy, Mr. Gaitho said that the conflict between the youth and the elders the community is as old as the earth itself. “Even during the time of Paul and Timothy, the youth were also despised as they were fixated to fun. This conflict has always been there and it will not stop,”  Peter told the congregation.

Switching between English, Kikuyu and Sheng’ (Kenyan urban street language), Mr. Gaitho  told the youth that many parents regret why they gave birth to some youth due to  the many problems and heartaches   some  youth  cause their parents.

He told the youth that God loves them and sees a very beautiful thing every time He looks at  them and therefore they have to let God do his work through them.

“You have to allow God to work in you so that you may change your ways and do wonderful things down the road.  If you do so, maybe in ten years we might be calling you a mheshimiwa (your honorable).

“God used youths who changed their ways a lot according to the Holy Bible. Joseph was used by God to further His purpose for the people of Israel. Mary was  a  young virgin used by God as well as Jeremiah who was too young when God used him to do great things,” added  Gaitho. “I am even older than Jesus who was still a youth because he was only 33 years when he died on the cross,” he added causing a great applause.

However Mr. Gaitho said there is a silver lining ahead as more and more youth are joining the church these days and thus things look like they will get better. “Even if you have messed and made the wrong decisions, go to God with humility and ask Him: what do I do God,  He will provide you with  a way out,” counseled Mr. Peter Gaitho.

The well attended event was organized by the All Saints Community Church youth led by Caesar Macharia. The master of ceremonies was Mrs. Nellie Thanji, who did a superb job at coordinating the day’s program.

Several invited youth groups from other churches were present and presented wonderful songs to the congregation.

Among them was St. Paul’s Anglican youth choir from Lawrence, Saint Stephens Episcopal church youth choir from Lynn and the little known Holly Cross Youth choir from Framingham.

Moving a vote o thanks at the end of the morning session, Mr. Anthony Thanji reiterated the preacher’s words that the community cannot stop praying for the youth.  “The prayers we pray for the youth work because I myself have changed tremendously as a result,” said Mr. Thanji as he thanked everyone for attending the service.

As the morning session came to an end, the youth gathered around waiting for an evening jam session hosted by DJ. Fresh who had been providing music and sound system during the youth service.

Several youth leaders were spotted by an AjabuAfrica.com staffer dragging in more giant loud speakers from the trunks of their cars into the church apparently to add more punch to the already set up speakers for the highly anticipated jam session
