‘Kenyan Michael Jackson’ thrills fans as Community raise $9,000 to support talent

Musical talent was at display by young Kenyans during a funds drive to assist a young Kenyans girl in Worcester afford an audition she landed in Hollywood this summer.
During the event, held at the St. Andrew’s church in Worcester on May 13, another young Kenyan boy emerged as a gifted performer when he thrilled guests with dance moves reminiscent of the late king of pop, Michael Jackson.
Doing the moonwalk dance while gliding effortlessly to the ‘Billie Jean’ sound track, 10 year old Mark Bibiu sent guests cheering in a standing ovation as he entertained in a side show.
The event fund raising event rose over $9,000 that will help another young Kenyans girl, Anne Gichuhi (11) attend an I-Pop convention event in Los ageless, CA next month.
Many Kenyans at the event praised the young girl who showed a sense of purpose and pride with her community during her remarks appreciating all those that came to help out with funds.
“I thank you all for coming here to support me. I am very proud of you and I promise I will not let you down when I go to compete at the I-Pop convention”, said the young Kenyan.

Speaking during the event, a co-master of ceremonies, Kibathi Gaturu said that it has come a time when Kenyans in the US must start encouraging the upcoming children with exploring their talents and supporting them morally and financially to access the opportunities widely available in the USA.
The call was reiterated by the co-host, Benson Waweru of Oxford who also thanked the Kenyan community for turning out in large numbers to support the young performer with an eye for the big screen as well as a professional singer.
During the same event, guests were informed of another young Kenyan girl who has been picked to undergo training to become a TV advertiser and actor.
As for the young Michael Jackson impersonator, he plans to keep entertaining friends and the community at every opportunity possible as he works to develop his talent.
He will be performing tomorrow during the Madaraka day celebrations that will take place in Lowell, mass starting at 2.30 pm.
