MALDEN, Mass.,_The Kenyan Pentecostal Fellowship church (PEFA) on Sunday ( February 27)celebrated   relocation from the YMCA center in Malden to a new location well situated between the previous registry of motor vehicles in Melrose and the Oak Groove train station, also in Malden.

Despite inclement weather last Sunday when heavy rain poured from above, dozens of people still made it to the 376 Washington st, Malden to witness the occasion.

In a sermon that was interpreted form English to Kiswahili by an assisting pastor, Pastor Peter Maina, a visiting guest preacher, Bishop Peter Ndungu from the Church of Saviour church in Lexington, Kentucky, urged Kenyans in New England to stick to their churches rather than migrate from one church to the other.

He said that when problems arise in a church, people should not leave the church but help solve the problems so that churches can grow and stay stable.

“The problem we have in church today is that people are moving from church to church as many pastors are just looking for many members”, said the man of God.

He added that it was regrettable that during these times, “you see a church full of people but no one is saved in that church”.

He advised that it is important for worshippers to find a church where their spiritual welfare can be well taken care of and when they find it, stay planted instead of moving all over.

A mainly Kenyan community church, All Nations PEFA church was started in the year 2000 through the vision of Rev. Dr. Charles Karanja.

With only a handful of worshippers throughout out the years, All Nations PEFA church has started attracting attention of an increasing number of worshippers from the Malden, Medford, Melrose, Everett areas and beyond.

Thanking guests and pastors who attended the celebration, the pastor of the church, Dr. Karanja said that there are people who still do not attend church in Massachusetts for various reasons and are therefore welcome to visit All Nations PEFA church where they might find a suitable place of worship.

Dr. Karanja was ordained as a pastor back in his home country of Kenya in 1983 under the All Nations PEFA church.

He served as a pastor in Muranga, Central province of Kenya for a long time. Dr. Karanja then attended the Kaleo Bible Institute which was based in Woburn, Massachusetts at the time before being ordained as a Reverend in the US in 1995 by the All Nations church, still in Massachusetts.

In 2006, Dr. Rev. Dr. Karanja graduated with a Doctorate in Theology degree in Richmond, Virginia.

A humble man of God who talks with a lot of humility, Dr. Karanja has managed to avoid scandals that have hit many men of the cloth especially when it comes to financial issues.

“We are not money making church. We look to minister to the many spiritual problems that many people are experiencing rather than put an emphasis on money”, he told Ajabu Africa News in a post event interview.

The church has also managed to attract the help of two other pastors, pastor Peter Maina and pastor Samuel Mwaura assist Dr. Karanja  in conducting the worship services as well as other church functions, an achievement that has eluded many other Kenyan community churches.

“The main goal at All Nations PEFA church is to truly feed the spiritual being not our gains. We welcome everyone who is looking for a church to come worship with us”, said Dr. Karanja.

The event was also attended by Bishop David Karaya, the chairman of the Kenya Pastors’ Fellowship (KPF), pastor Stanley Kariuki and Rev. George Gitau, populary known as Father George.

Dr. Karanja also thanked members of the church who volunteered their efforts to make the event the success it was.

Services at the church take place every Sunday at 11.30am to 1pm, with a Thursday bible study from 10am to 12pm and a Friday night service from 6pm-8pm.

The church is located at 376 Washington st, Malden, Ma 02148.
