The chairperson of the newly elected Gwanga Mujje Boston electoral commission Pastor Samuel Mutyaba has criticized the outgoing executive, saying its officials were being selfish and are politicising the association.
Mutyaba said the executive failed to organize elections and to execute its other constitutional obligations.
He was speaking to Ajabuafrica.com at Waltham, Massachusetts recently.
The newly elected electoral commission boss it was wrong for a section of some Buganda subjects in the Diaspora to politicize a cultural association.
"Some people in the outgoing executive failed the last elections that were to take place in May 2009 in Waltham. They instead tried to link whoever was standing for any position to the NRM government spy network.
“One doesn’t have to be a leader in a political party in order to stand for leadership position in Gwanga Mujje because this is not a political but cultural organization striving to develop Buganda as a Kingdom,” he stressed.
He said a meeting is being planned soon which will bring together the outgoing and the interim executives to iron out their differences and forge the way forward for the association.

"We need to sit down with the executives and work out new guidelines to steer us forward. We also need to scrutinize qualities of those that want to stand for leadership positions to avoid involving politics in Gwanga Mujje affairs,” he said.
He said that the members are interested in people who will transform the association into one which is active and will bring about development in the Baganda community in the Diaspora.
The association last Saturday elected a team of seven people who will organize and oversee elections for new office bearers.
However, during the meeting that flopped in May 2009, folks in Boston complained that some members affiliated to the ruling NRM party had registered and brought in people from other States to vote.
Talking to our reporter on phone, the chairman of the interim executive Mr. John Mayanja said that elections will be held after the elected electoral commission has met and decided on the way forward.
"According to the association’s constitution, we have 45 days before we can conduct polls. Those on the electoral team include Pr. Mutyaba of the New Life Church International as chairman, Prof. Aloysius Lugira (deputy), Hellen Kajjubi as secretary while board members include Ben Kintu, Matia Sekanjaako, Bakiika James and Hajjati Sophia Babumba.
