Kenyan Gets 30 Years for raping 80-year-old Resident

By Ajabu Africa News Staff

JACKSONVILLE, FL, MAY 20_A Kenyan man who was arrested and charged with the rape of an 80-year-old woman under his care in a group home in Florida has been found guilty of the act and consequently jailed for 30 years.

Anthony Njoroge, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) was caught in the act at midnight by a co-worker at the Regents Park Nursing Home, Jacksonville, Florida and arrested for the suspected felony on September 13, last year.

Anthony Mbugua Njoroge

Njoroge, 37, was sentenced at the Duval County Public court on 330 East Day street, Jacksonville, FL for a sexual battery of a helpless, mentally impaired woman on April 22nd.

According to reliable sources present at the court during the sentencing, the court heard that DNA evidence from Njoroge was used to convict him.

“This is a horrible situation of unimaginable proportions,” said Pastor David K. Gichiri of the Tabernacle of David Worship Center, an ethnic church in Jacksonville, FL, during a telephone interview with AjabuAfrica.com.

“Why would such a young Kenyan man do such an act,” wondered the pastor who time and time again had been going to the apartment where Njoroge shared with another room-mate trying to get them to attend church without success.

“This is what can happen when people fail to adhere to the teachings of the word and joining others at church for socialization and support. I sympathize with the family of Njoroge back in Kenya and urge all our young people to re-evaluate the consequences of their actions in this country and decide if it is worth the risk ” added the disappointed pastor.

"Not looking good", said James Kamau from Atlanta on a telephone interview with AjabuAfrica.com. "Every Kenyan should be extra careful with those you are entrusted with at your place of work" , he added.

Njoroge's act and incarceration has baffled many people in the Kenyan community in the US, most who expressed shock at the news.
