News of the sad death of the Young Kenyan reached AjabuAfrica News by a phone call from a Kenyan in Indiana, Boniface Njuguna, who heard the sad news of the death from a friend, and since he happened to know the mother, he contacted her.

Njuguna said that he spoke to the young Kenyan’s mother Illinois and she said that she needs urgent help to transport the body back home for burial.

“She urgently needs to raise $5,500 for the funeral home expenses, besides the hospital bill and other funeral (transport) expenses,” said Njuguna.

Reginah Kiluli the mother of the dead Kenyan is a widow with four children and lives in Mount Prospect City, about two hours drive from Rockford, Illinois.

The family came to the U.S. in 2008 under the Green Card lottery program. They are therefore relatively new in the country and still struggling to find their ground.

Before relocating to the US, Reginah’s second born son just graduated from JKUCAT University in Kenya.

According to his devastated mother, once in the US, Theo worked at a staples store as a computer analyst but stopped working recently due a serious problem with alcoholism.

His mother then decided to get help for her son and brought him to a local hospital, the Alexian Brothers Behaviourial Hospital on 29th March 2010

“The Hospital referred him to a rehabilitation center on 2nd April, ” said the mourning mother on a telephone interview with Ajabu Africa News.

She said that the rehabilitation center was connected to a Christian formed Rehabiliation service in the area that helps people come out of many addictions including alcoholism which Theophilus had a problem with.

“He had just arrived at the Rehab for treatment, and then four days later this deadly incident happened. I am so devastated,” added the mother.

“This is a very devastating thing to happen to this mother, who also lost her husband to car-jacking incident back in Kenya on May 2001,” said Njuguna.

Her husband, Jonathan Muia Kiluli, was shot dead by the car jackers along Jogoo Road in Nairobi, Kenya, who then abandoned the car when it shut down when the Anti theft system installed on board kicked in.

“She is appealing to all Kenyans and well wishers from everywhere to help her send Theo's body back to Kenya for burial.”

The family hails from Matiliku Location in Makueni, Machakos district in Kenya.
