WORCESTER, Mass.,_The eagerly awaited question and answer book that tests how much people know about the holy bible, by pastor Ben Njuru,  a Kenyan pastor in Worcester, was officially released on Sunday  last week  in an event attended by the Massachusetts Lt. Governor, Tim Murray, Worcester congressman, Jim McGovern and Worcester mayor, Joseph C. Obrien.

The event took place at the Manor restaurant in West Boylston, in the Worcester County and was attended by about 100 guests including several pastors.

The main guest of the event, Governor Deval Patrick was not able to attend the  historic book signing as he was forced to  go and “defend his turf” as the campaign for the Governor’s post heated up, said Clarence Plant, one of the the masters of ceremonies at the one of a kind book signing.

However, the governor was fully represented by the powerful team led by his deputy, Lt. Gov. Tim Murray.

“When you see the Lt. Governor here, you know you have literally seen the governor” added Clarence Plant, of Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

During a brief speech, Lt. Gov. Murray congratulated Pastor Njuru for the unique achievement of writting a book that has the potential to affect the lives of many people.

The Lt. Governor, who is up for re-election together with Gov. Deval Patrick, praised Patrick for the many things he had   started in Massachusetts, making the state fare better than other states despite the tough economic times.

“I am very proud to work with a man like Governor Patrick”, said. Lt. Gov. Murray.
He asked Kenyans to come out in large numbers to vote for the Deval Patrick -Tim Murray team in the upcoming mid -term elections.

Before opening the book signing, Worcester mayor, Joseph C. Obrien caused a light moment when he admitted that he had to wake up in the morning and retrieve his bible from its resting place because he feared he might be quizzed on his bible knowledge when he stepped up on the stage.

“I woke up very early this morning, searched for my bible and dusted up a little bit, because I was afraid I was going to get quizzed up here”, said Mayor Obrien. “I am glad that is not happening”, he added, amusing guests present.

The mayor congratulated Pastor Njuru for the hard work of writing the Bible Quizzer, especially because matters of faith was an integral part of the healing process, which pastor Ben and many other Kenyans are involved in at their jobs  in nursing homes.

The mayor said that the city of Worcester was proud of the input done by the Kenyan community to make Worcester a more diverse and robust community, and valued highly their input in the human services sector.

The mayor revealed that before becoming the Worcester Mayor, he worked in the same human services field in the area of Worcester an emergency medical personnel (EMT).

Addressing the guests at the book singing, Worcester congressman, Jim Mc. Govern also praised the African community in Worcester for adding to the diversity if the city. He told Pastor Ben that he was overjoyed to see a man like him come up with an important book like the Bible quizzer and wished him well.

He asked guests to elect Gov. Deval Patrick as for the post of Massachusetts Governor when election time comes.

" I urge you to go and re-elect Governor Deval Patrick during the coming elections", said the congressman. "And me too", he quickly added as he is up for re-election as well.

Thanking guests for attending the  book signing, pastor Njuru, of the Compassionate Fellowship church in Worcester, said that he hoped many people , churches , bible schools and families will get blessed as they tested their knowledge about  what is contained in the old testament, which is  the book covered by  his new book.

The event was attended by many pastors including Rev. Raffoul Najem , Bishop David Karaya, Rev. Joseph Waiyaki, all of the CCF church in Lowell, Rev. Samuel Kimohu of the Saint Stephens church in Lowell and  Bishop Joshua Wambua of Rapture harvest Mission International in Wakefield. Professor James Njoroge from Georgia also attended among other notable guests.

Bishop Wambua asked Kenyans to support Pastor Njuru by buying the book and refrain from the usual tradition where people who come up with great ideas in the community are discouraged by their own people, some of whom do not want to see others succeed.

“Let us not kill good ideas. Let us support them”, said Bishop Wambua.

During the closing remarks, the assiting master of ceremonies, Robert Odanga, also congratulated pastor Njuru for coming up with a book of as much importance as the Ultimate Bible Quizzer even though many people may have doubted him for his size.

With pastor Njuru measuring about 5ft tall, Odanga put it rightly; “great gifts come in small packages”.

The book, published by Xulon Publishers is available at most of the major book stores.
