Raila Odinga's son files for divorce

By Evelyn Kwamboka, Standard, Posted November 25, 2011

NAIROBI, Kenya_Fidel Castro Odhiambo Odinga, Prime Minister Raila's son has moved to court to dissolve his marriage

Fidel filed the divorce case against his wife, Ms Veronica Wanjiru Ng’ang’a at the Nairobi Magistrate’s court, barely five years after they tied the knot.

Wanjiru who was served with the suit papers in August this year, has not responded to the issues raised.

Fidel claims that owing to irreconcilable differences, their marriage has irretrievably broken down.

It is alleged the wife left their matrimonial home in Nairobi’s Karen in July this year.

Cost of case

He now wants the court to dissolve the marriage and his wife ordered to pay the costs of the case.

Fidel married his wife at a colourful traditional ceremony that was held at Raila’s rural home in Bondo and they proceeded to live as husband and wife.

The law firmDIVORCE acting for Raila’s son has since attached the certificate of its clerk who served Fidel’s wife with the suit papers, to enable the court to act on its application.
