BRAINTREE, Mass., _Visiting Kenyan Gospel artist who is also a preacher, Joan Wairimu encouraged people who find themselves ridiculed and discouraged by their family or friends that if they stay on the straight path, the same people who think and talk ill of them will end up being the same ones singing their praises when God reveals his works in them.
After leading a vigorous praise and worship service at the International House of God in Braintree last Sunday where she performed hits from her latest Album, Siku Njema, (Great day) and her older album, Pambazuka na Yesu, ( Rise up with Jesus) pastor Wairimu preached briefly, encouraging the faithful with her journey from zero to hero.
“To me, school did not go so well with me. I never used to do as good as my brothers and sisters, and since I was the middle born child, I used to fear being overtaken by my younger sister”, revealed Pastor Wairimu.
Because of that, her mother used to yell at her occasionally, urging her to do better at school as she believed education was the only way for her to get something out of life.
Unfortunately or fortunately for Joan, she just could not perform as good as her siblings, who went on to graduate at top Universities in Kenya.

"Stay on the straight path", advises Joam Wairimu |
She said that she sincerely put in great effort at school including burning the midnight oil while dipping her legs in cold water “but it just did not work for me. My brother would not bother to read at all but come exam time, he would get the top marks, while mine was not impressive. What else could I do”?, she posed?
However, because she loved God at a young age, she realized that she liked singing and therefore continued to sing all sort of songs with all her energy, prompting her mother to tell her "if you study as much as you sing with your mouth, you would be doing very well at school and become a great person”, she added, ammusing the faithful present.
But after sticking with God and determining to go into a full time career in gospel music, her songs became very popular in Kenya and topped the charts several times.
Today, Pastor Joan inspires millions of Kenyans with her uplifting music, as well as mentoring and giving hope to dozens young women, something that holds her highly educated siblings with awe and admiration.
"None of them has even come to America, but here i am with you right here in Braintree", encouraged the humorous woman of God.
Recently, she was nominated to receive an award in a top Kenyan music awards ceremony in the category of Best Female Artist of the year.
“Although someone else ended up the winner, I was greatly honored by Kenyans to have been nominated in this category”, Wairimu told worshippers.
She added that these days, her mother is extremely proud of her especially when she goes to monthly women meetings and people greet her as Joan Wairimu’s mother.
Pastor Wairimu said that when curious people ask her mother if she was indeed the real mother to Joan Wairimu who sings, she replies with a lot of pride, “Yes that is my dear daughter”.
Wairimu also serves as a pastor with her husband, Pastor William Mwangangi in at the Jesus Manifestation Church Center in Githurai 45 , a few miles from Nairobi city, the capital of Kenya.
Due to this, Pastor Wairimu believes that everyone has a gift in them that they should not let go just because some people around them speak negative of them.
She drew parallels from the book of Acts, where Paul picked up deadly a snake hiding in firewood that the was picking up together with other saints.
“Everyone stood aside waiting and hoping for the snake to strike Paul. They were certain he would be dead in a matter of minutes”, said the woman of God. Nobody even bothered to seek emergency measures to help him", she added.

However, because Paul was a very godly person who believed in miracles of God, he just shook his the firewood in his hands and the deadly snake fell out of the firewood into the fire, without touching him at all.
“Now those who were waiting for Paul to die started calling people to come and see God, referring to Paul as God", said the pastor.
"Even for you, if you stay on the straight path of life, many people who reject you and want you to fail will be the ones to praise you and the miracles that God will do in your life”, she encouraged.
Thanking Pastor Wairimu for visiting their church in Braintree, Pastor Joram Karanja said that people are always excited to hear her music and feel blessed by it.
Before the sermon began, Wairimu had entertained fans with top hits her various albums including Pambazuka na Yesu, Kunya Maji, and Usikufe Moyo from her latest Album titled Siku Njema.
With her sweet voice and great compositions, many of which are done in the Kenyan national language of Kiswahili, Wairimu is able to reach out to a wide cross section of Kenyans, so it was hard for the mixed tribe worshippers at the IHOW church not to stand up and shake their bodies in unison.
When the dancing was over, several detached shoe heels were seen scattered on the on a sticky floor that was under renovation, their owners having left without them unawares, but spiritually full.
