KENYA CRUSHES CANADA

MAN OF THE MATCH: Kenyan Captain, Steve Tikolo, in action aganist Canada during the 2007 Cricket World Cup played today at the beautiful Caribbean resort of St. Lucia

In-form Skipper, Steve Tikolo, led his Kenyan team to a hilarious rout of Henry Osinde’s Canada by a whooping 7 Wickets.   The Seasoned captain, whose father used to turn out for the national Kenyan team in his heyday, was voted man of the match in this thrilling match of the 2007 ICC World Cup.

Tikolo displayed amazing form by scoring a clean, unbeaten 72, and adding 2 wickets in the mix. He credited his teammates for the win.
“The guys put up a very good show, and I am very pleased with our performance,” he said.

The presence of the fast-rising rival, Henry Osinde from Uganda, now playing for Canada, did not help the North Americans.  The Kenyans seemed too swift to match. Canada failed to make use of a window of opportunity when two Kenyans, David Obuya, and Ravindu Shah, were dismissed early in the game.

The Kenyan Skipper expressed high optimism for his side at this world Cup.
“We’ve got to take the momentum gained from his game forward.  And if we can maintain the intensity, who knows what can happen?” he remarked.   He thanked his spinners for doing an outstanding job, which he said was key to their win.
“The pitch did not do too much for the seamers but the spinners did the job for us and in the end that made a big difference,” a jubilant Tikolo explained.

Canadian Skipper, John Davison, conceded a total defeat, saying, “We did not get anything right today. We started well but could not carry on the good work. Their spinners bowled well and we just couldn’t get them away.”
Kenya meets traditional foes, New Zealand on March 20 for their next match, and then takes on England on March 24.
