Nigerian Girl Flees After 4 Babies Die in her Day Care Business, Now Arrested

HOUSTON, Tx_Jessica Rene Tata, the 22-years-old Nigerian-American woman who fled to Nigeria from Houston on February 26, 2011, two days after Houston/Harris County safety/fire and law enforcement officials made preliminary conclusions that the February 24 fire at her Jackie’s Child Care caused the deaths of four babies has been placed in an Atlanta jail, on Monday March 21, 2011.
She appeared a few hours ago before a Fulton County magistrate. She will, shortly, be brought back to the Houston/Harris County district to face the consequences of the law from 14 charges.
She was returned a few minutes after 5:00 a.m. today Monday March 21, 2011, enroute a flight from Nigeria’s Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, to Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Tata landed the United States as a captured person of the U.S Marshal.
The fugitive U.S citizen, listed among the U.S. Marshals 15 Most Wanted Fugitive, was captured on Saturday March 19, 2011 in Port Harcourt, Nigeria by the Interpol and U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security agents. A report sent to USAfricaonline.com by the U.S Marshal’s office stated that since Friday (March 18) two Interpol – Lagos agents were in Port Harcourt working leads and information provided by the U.S. Marshals Service, Interpol Washington, and Department of

State Diplomatic Security. Based on these leads, the IP – Lagos agents were able to locate Tata and take her into custody.
Jeffrey W. Culver, Director of the Diplomatic Security Service notes that “Diplomatic Security’s Regional Security Office in Nigeria maintains an excellent working relationship with local law enforcement personnel who helped facilitate Jessica Tata’s capture.”
Her father Godfrey Tata, owner of a healthcare business, has been a resident of Houston since the early 1980s, and until recently spends more time in Nigeria, and a few months in the Houston area.
USAfricaonline.com Publisher was reliably informed on February 25, 2011 that Jessica’s father was expected back to Houston last weekend of February but did not make it back. At the time of this report on March 1, 2011, he was still away. The same weekend of Saturday February 27, 2011, he was expected, her daughter Jessica, apparently fled from Houston, Texas.
The combined efforts of law enforcement agencies made her capture a top task. According to Geoffrey Shank, U.S. Marshals Service Acting Assistant Director of Investigative Operations Division: “When Jessica Tata chose to flee from the consequences of her actions that left four innocent children dead, we made her capture a top priority.”
“You cannot thumb your nose at the justice system, whether it be domestically or abroad,” said Elizabeth Saenz, U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Texas. “Justice will be served. Jessica Tata has learned this thanks to the global efforts of the many and unknown.”
The law enforcement and investigative entities involved include the USMS Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force, Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department, Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Interpol Washington, the U.S. National Central Bureau, Interpol – Lagos, DOJ Office of International Affairs and the USMS Investigative Operations Division.
Tata is expected to be brought to Houston-Harris County in Texas, this week, for the full presentation of the 14 charges.
