VOLUNTEERS have been asked to help prepare the youth in life as they grow up into adults.
The call was made by one of the leaders of the Ugandan Christian volunteers, Mrs. Catherine Nsubuga, in a youth conference organized by the Waltham – based Global Evangelical church. The conference was held last week at beautiful Singing Hills Christian Camp & Conference Center in Plainfield, New Hampshire
Nsubuga said, “as our youth grow up, there is need to educate them on how to prepare for the future.
"I call upon volunteers to come up and support our youth to be equipped with knowledge in terms of development. This new generation requires knowledge which can help it build a strong foundation for the future."
She proposed that the church should continue to organize such conferences annually during summer because the youth had a lot to gain from them.
The theme of this year’s conference that brought together over 30 youths from Massachusetts and New Hampshire was “Bring young men to be taught”, adding that it was picked from the book of Daniels [1:3-4].
The three-day conference (July 10 - 12) attracted various facilitators who addressed a number of different topics and many other issues raised by the youths.

Some of the topics taught included, “Life skills on Biblical Perspective”, handled by several facilitators, “Body Offer” taught by Mrs Catherine Nosebag, “Right Timing” by Pastor Frank Webs, “Self Development” by Pastor Frank Mwebesa, and “Unto my Feet” by senior Pastor John Baker Katende.
Other topics included “Balanced Life" that aimed at teaching the youth on how to set priority in their lives and handled by Mrs. Catherine Nosebag and Pastor John Baker Katende.
Mrs. Nsubuga said, “that it was an exiting moment when the youth asked questions on the topic of dating, which is part of self development. I am glad that our goal in addressing some of the topics and answer questions by the youth has been achieved.”
Catherine Nsubuga is a Bible teacher in the Global Evangelical church. She always organizes weekly fellowships for the youth.
