WALTHAM, Mass- Christians from different Ugandan Churches in Massachusetts came together last Friday to celebrate Good Friday.
The joint service was held at Global Evangelical Church offices on Moody Street in Waltham, Mass., and drew faithfuls from several Ugandan community churches.
Dozens of worshipers turned up for the prayers. Rev. John Baker Katende of Global Evangelical Church led the worship session while Pastor Mugambwa, a visiting preacher from Uganda read the scriptures.
The event started at 8 p.m. and was led by Rev. Katende of The Global Evangelical Church.
Under the ambit of the United Church of Christ, Members of Good life Church; The Signs and Wonders Church; The Homey Church; The New Life Church; and The Global Evangelical Church congregate from time to time to hold joint prayers. This is their way of promoting worship and unity among their members.
Rev. Samuel Mutyaba of The New Life Church in Waltham welcomed the main preacher, Pastor Hannington Mugambwa, who was visiting from Uganda and thanked The Global Evangelical Church for hosting the prayers.
Pastor Mugambwa, in his sermon, wondered why the world was still sick while there is already a cure in Jesus Christ.
“Many Christians have no idea that they are in the battle with the enemy, and that is why they always fail,” he said. “If you have failed, it is because of you. If you don’t know that you are in the ring with the enemy like a boxer, he will knock you down.”
The preacher said anyone can break the yoke of failure, especially during the Easter season because all have been empowered by Christ.
“There is no miracle you are going to receive without faith,” Rev. Mugambwa said, adding that Good Friday is a day that brings good news because it is the day salvation started
